Dealerships are the right place for warranty claims and by-the-book replacement work. What dealerships do well, and where the model stops
If your car is under warranty and a component fails, claim it at the dealership. No independent can process a factory claim, and the stamped history matters when you sell.
The rest is built into the model. A franchise workshop is measured on following procedure, and the procedure says replace, not investigate. If the design itself is the weak point, the new factory part books you in for the same failure a few years later.

A scanner tells you which component complained, not why. We’ve seen cars arrive with a new part fitted elsewhere and the fault still there, because the code got read as the diagnosis.
Turnaround is the other gap. Our street in Bandar Sunway, Jalan Horsepower, is Malaysia’s densest cluster of performance workshops and machine shops. An engine can come out in the morning, get machined a few doors down, and be back on the bench that afternoon. A dealership waiting on Italy can’t match it.
The Aventador pulley that kept failing
One of the factory pulleys on the Aventador has plastic parts inside it. Plastic plus heat cycling plus a Federal Highway crawl is a bad mix, and another factory unit just books the same failure again. So we machined our own in aluminium, same fitment, no plastic to melt or crack. A dealership can’t offer that, because its answer must be the official part. It’s a standard option in our Lamborghini service and repair.
Pick the independent carefully
Leaving the franchise only pays off if you pick the right shop, because the wrong one costs more than any dealership invoice. A Volkswagen GTI came to us after other workshops had each damaged it further, and fixing every fault properly ran close to RM200,000. That’s the exception, but restoring what others broke is regular repair and maintenance work.
